Meridian Systems Delivers First Infrastructure Lifecycle Management (ILM) Software Platform To Plan, Build And Operate Facilities

Integration of Project Management, Facilities Management And Web Services Technology Provides "Brick and Mortar" Businesses With A 360-Degree View Of All Capital Projects and Facilities

FOLSOM, Calif. (June 6, 2005) – Meridian Systems®, an enterprise software provider for optimizing real estate, construction and other physical infrastructure programs, today announced Proliance® 3.0, the first web-based ILM solution to integrate facility management and project management functionality on a Web Services/XML technology platform. This unique combination of capabilities enables corporations with significant real estate portfolios to efficiently plan, build and operate all of their physical infrastructure assets.

Physical infrastructure encompasses many types of brick and mortar assets, including office buildings, retail outlets, shopping malls, schools, power plants, or transportation systems. These asset owners, together with their construction and engineering partners, must manage every step in the facility process—from site acquisition to maintenance and operations.

“Our customers want a comprehensive system that helps them align their capital real estate assets with their corporate objectives,” says John Bodrozic, president and cofounder of Meridian Systems. “Many corporations have relied on several single-purpose applications to manage their capital project lifecycle, creating disconnected islands of data throughout the organization and delaying time to market for new facilities.”

According to a recent study from The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a lack of comprehensive, fully integrated software solutions costs the U.S. capital facilities industry over $15.8 billion annually. These cost issues are driving growth for ILM solutions among facility owners and operators, as well as the large engineering and construction firms that serve them. According to IDC, ILM is expected to generate $3.2 billion in software and services revenues by 2008, compared with $944 million in 2003.

To meet these diverse needs, Proliance 3.0 offers a unique combination of project and portfolio management functionality that allows organizations to manage all critical aspects of capital projects, including scope and schedules, budgets and contracts, costs and resources. These capabilities are now tightly integrated with a new facilities management suite that allows corporations to operate and manage location and equipment assets, maintenance and service request items.

Proliance 3.0 is one of the few existing enterprise applications built completely on a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). XML technology supports a powerful workflow engine in Proliance that drives Business Process Management (BPM) across all Proliance applications and gives organizations the ability to create, enforce and automate best practices and processes across the enterprise. Proliance also includes a business intelligence layer that, through key performance indicators, dashboards and roll-up reporting, provides senior executives and mid-level managers with visibility into the entire portfolio of projects, programs and facilities

According to Bodrozic, “By providing a 360-degree view of all facilities, both planned and existing, Proliance 3.0 allows CXOs to track performance of their entire infrastructure portfolio, streamlining project delivery and asset maintenance through real-time analytics and consistent business processes.”
