Gilbane Selects Proliance as Business Process Management Software Standard

Proliance® selected for multi-year technology contract

FOLSOM, Calif. (November 19, 2003) - Meridian Project Systems® (Meridian), a leading provider of project management software and ASP solutions, today announced that Gilbane Building Inc., the 11th largest contractor in the U.S., has selected Proliance as its business process management (BPM) software standard. As part of this agreement, Gilbane will partner with Meridian to build the Gilbane ProjectPortal, a hosted ASP solution providing total project controls via the Internet for Gilbane clients and trading partners.

Proliance® is the first BPM solution for large enterprises who need to design, procure, construct and maintain large capital construction programs. Targeted to large owners and engineering and construction companies, Proliance is Meridian’ third generation technology platform that allows global companies to manage projects, programs and business processes across their organizations.

Meridian was selected as the result of a long-term partnership that naturally evolved to include the Proliance platform and business applications. By delivering Proliance through its own ProjectPortal hosted ASP offering, Gilbane can significantly increase the value it provides to its clients and outside partners. ProjectPortal allows for rapid deployment possibilities along with a central integration platform upon which to build additional Proliance modules. Gilbane can also develop integration paths between Proliance and J.D. Edwards/PeopleSoft, and integration paths to other related applications.

Gilbane selected Proliance because it utilizes a Web Services and XML platform built on the Microsoft .NET application framework, a powerful foundation that includes workflow automation, security, file management, reporting and communication tools. Proliance’s built-in workflow automates business processes for every function within an organization, allowing Gilbane to reduce the time and effort to process information, and enforce best practices company-wide.

"Adopting Proliance will only reinforce our position as a technology leading company by allowing Gilbane to expand our innovation advantage," said Keith Authelet, Gilbane chief information officer. InformationWeek Magazine recently named the Gilbane Building Company the number one user of information technology systems in the Construction & Engineering category for 2003. This ranking comes in InformationWeek's Top 500, the magazine's annual listing of the most innovative users of information technology. Gilbane was ranked number seven overall among all companies in the survey.

"Meridian is excited to partner with Gilbane as they continue to increase the value-added service they provide to customers," said Jim Olsen, Meridian chief executive officer. "Their forward thinking vision will help further distinguish themselves as an industry-leading construction technology provider," Olsen added.
