Meridian Incorporates Business Intelligence Technology from Cognos
OEM agreement adds "best in class" dashboard reporting capabilities to Proliance
FOLSOM, Calif. (August 12, 2004) Meridian Project Systems® announces an agreement with Cognos (Nasdaq:COGN;TSX:CSN), the world leader in business intelligence and corporate performance management, to license Cognos ReportNet™ as part of Proliance®, Meridian's web-based solution that optimizes project lifecycles and automates business processes for real estate, construction, and other physical infrastructure initiatives.
Proliance uniquely combines complete project and portfolio management functionality and business process management in one comprehensive solution. Proliance is designed for large business enterprises that rely on physical infrastructure to deliver their core businesses whether that infrastructure is manufacturing facilities, retail outlets, office buildings or transportation systems.
Incorporating Cognos technology, Proliance can provide executive teams and senior managers with key performance indicators and analysis across their entire portfolio of projects. The Proliance business intelligence capability is configurable to fit a business or governmental enterprise's need for specific metrics and dashboards, delivering relevant data to users based on specific organizational roles.
Meridian selected Cognos because of the need to provide powerful metrics across the 11 different market segments that Meridian serves. Each Meridian customer type views their portfolio of projects in different ways, and so a powerful and flexible dashboard capability was required. Additionally, the Cognos ReportNet solution adheres to the same technology philosophy as Proliance - a zero-footprint client that only requires a web browser for all enterprise reporting and business intelligence needs, including authoring, distributing, consuming, and ad-hoc modifications.
"Partnering with Meridian, allows us to leverage market success with an industry-leader that has thousands of corporate real estate, construction and engineering customers," said Ted Jandl, Cognos vice president of global OEM sales. "Together, we can drive a company's performance to the next level by providing tremendous business insight across the planning, building and operation phases of large physical infrastructure programs."
"As a leader in business intelligence, Cognos provides tremendous value to our Proliance customers," said Mark Breunig, Meridian senior director of business development. "Leveraging their technology empowers organizations managing large physical infrastructure programs with real-time visibility and analytics across the enterprise."
Proliance business intelligence capabilities will be available in early Q4 of this year. Meridian plans to debut these capabilities at its annual user conference, Sept. 14-16 in Orlando, Fla. More details on this event can be found at: http://www.MeridianSystems.com /events/IUC2004.
